MEZON™ contains Esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor indicated for the management of acid-related gastrointestinal disorders. The injectable formulation is particularly useful in clinical situations where oral administration is not feasible or when rapid acid suppression is required. It provides effective control of gastric acid secretion and supports healing of mucosal damage associated with hyperacidity.

Indications

     MEZON™ is indicated for:

• Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
   
• Erosive esophagitis
   
• Gastric and duodenal ulcers
   
• Zollinger–Ellison syndrome and other hypersecretory conditions
   
• Prevention and treatment of stress-related mucosal damage
   
• Patients requiring parenteral acid suppression therapy when oral treatment is inappropriate
   

Mode of Action

Esomeprazole is the S-isomer of omeprazole and acts by selectively inhibiting the gastric proton pump (H⁺/K⁺-ATPase enzyme system) in the parietal cells of the stomach. This inhibition blocks the final step in acid production, resulting in a marked and sustained reduction in gastric acid secretion. The decrease in intragastric acidity promotes healing of inflamed tissues and relieves symptoms associated with acid-related disorders.

Dosage and Administration

MEZON™ should be administered under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional.

• The usual recommended dose is 40 mg once daily by intravenous injection or infusion.
   
• Duration of therapy depends on the clinical condition and patient response.
   
• Patients may be switched to oral therapy once clinically appropriate.
